Heather Graham

Play Jewel

Jewel's first solo gig was a performance on Tom Bodet's "End of the Road Show," which is a popular Alaska Public Radio series. She learned to play the guitar while on scholarship at the prestigious Interlochen Arts Academy in Interlochen, Michigan, where she majored in operatic voice. Her voice matured while practicing difficult arias by Monteverdi, Banoncini and other operatic composers and started writing songs at the age of seventeen. When she moved to San Diego, California with her mother and brother Atz Lee, she was able to gain some recognition by singing at the Innerchange Coffeehouse and Java Joe's where she met Steve Poltz and his band, The Rugburns. The two later co-wrote "You Were Meant For Me" where Steve appeared in the video with Jewel.
